Feeling Energetically Drained as a Reflector

If you’re into Human Design, you may have heard the comparison that Reflectors are like Teflon, effortlessly deflecting the energies around them. But guess what, my loves? That’s just scratching the surface, and I’m here to talk about why that analogy might not hold up in the real world.

The Reflector Aura Type: An Open Window to the Outer World

Reflectors, have you ever felt the weight of external energies influencing your own energy and well-being? Trust me, it’s not a coincidence; it’s all tied to your Human Design aura type. Let’s bust the myth wide open and embrace a deeper understanding of your cosmic essence.

In the world of Human Design, Reflectors are the rare gems, making up only about 1% of the population. The Reflector aura type is incredibly sensitive, due to the undefined or completely open energy centers in their bodygraph. I like say that if you have an undefined or completely open energy center, it’s like having an open window for the energy of the outer world to come into you, absorbing and reflecting the energies.

Now, some might say that Reflectors don’t actually hold onto the external energy they encounter. Hence the myth that being a Reflector is like being a Teflon non-stick pan, but I beg to differ. In my experience giving readings to Reflectors and delving into their charts, I’ve noticed patterns among Reflectors tell a different story.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or medical professional. My views are totally anecdotal and based on pattern recognition acquired over time.

From what I’ve observed and heard directly from Reflectors, they can often find themselves grappling with fatigue, burnout, medical leaves, and chronic illnesses. How can this be, you ask? Well, it can often happen when a Reflector’s environment and relationships are out of alignment. Think about it, if you’re around miserable people all day at work, and your office is a hectic, capitalist rat-race, how do you think you would feel at the end of the day if you had energy centers that were like windows?

The Importance of Grounding and Cleansing Practices

My number one recommendation for Reflectors is to develop a regular practice of grounding and cleansing your own energy. This can be as simple as having “Me Time” where you get to be alone and do things that you love and remind you of who you are. Your grounding and cleansing practice can also include more rituals such as meditation, bathing with sea salts, yoga and somatics, creative projects and talk therapy.

I also recommend that Reflectors honor the natural ebbs and flows of their energy levels instead of trying to conform to social norms of hyperproductivity and regimented routines and schedules. Part of the magic of being a Reflector is that your lifestyle and work schedule get to be unconventional and subject to change. If you can find ways to embrace unconventionality, even in the current oppressive systems we all live in, you may notice a significant change in your energy levels.

You may even discover that in order to maintain your energetic well-being, you need to leave a toxic work environment, relationship or neighborhood if you find that your immediate surroundings are truly out of alignment with your values and beliefs. (A major life decision like this would be an ideal time to practice your strategy of waiting a full lunar cycle to gain clarity.)

Conclusion

Reflectors, it’s time to nurture your energetic sensitivity and acknowledge that absorbing energy without proper release can take a toll on your well-being. As the cosmic mirrors that you are, embracing activities to discharge the energies you’ve taken in from the outer world will be a game-changer.
